My approach…
I started teaching sex ed to young people during my time in college. While I always enjoyed engaging with kids - from all my cousins to my campers - I realized then the joy of offering them the knowledge, skills, resources, and encouragement useful for the rest of their lives. I also realized I enjoyed it so much was because I am doing what Younger Remi would be so appreciative of - Younger Remi didn’t know what she needed as she was blossoming. And I believe that so many of us never fully received the tools and information we need as we’re growing. As a sex educator, I’m dedicated to offering people of all ages the knowledge, resources, and skills necessary to navigate the world and maintain healthy practices that authentically reflect their unique needs. This can look different to different people based on what they are seeking and their lived experiences.
I genuinely want to help people be the best versions of themselves, and that includes receiving quality sex ed. Everyone deserves access to this information. But first, people must understand that sex ed is not an awkward condom demonstration - it’s building and maintaining boundaries, understanding your body and mind, decision-making, communicating effectively, practicing and respecting consent, preventing harm, feeling confident, exploring self-expression, and inviting joy into your life! These skills are useful in all capacities in life and can create a healthier world!

ABOUT ME
Born and raised in Miami, I moved to New Orleans for my Bachelor's degree where I studied Sociology, Gender & Sexuality Studies, and Jewish Studies. During this time, I got involved in the national mentorship program WYSE (Women and Youth Supporting Each Other) as a mentor and director, which launched my passion for sex education. Also during my undergrad experience, I interned at a home for survivors of sex trafficking, a shelter for women experiencing homelessness and their children, and a school for girls at risk of becoming involved in the Juvenile Justice system. Now I’m based in New York City, where I completed my Master's in Public Health with a certificate in Sexuality, Sexual and Reproductive Health and currently teach middle and high school students. I previously worked in the nonprofit realm for gender equality and sexual and reproductive health and rights. Overall, I’ve worked with young people for about 10 years in various capacities gaining inspiration from all of them. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my friends, family, and cat, as well as art, music, pilates, and trying new restaurants.
